Whew! It is HOT here in Alabama y ‘all! Perfect weather for enjoying the A/C and doing some crafting! So our theme this month is Summer Lovin’ and in the US we are celebrating Independence Day this week. With those two things rolling around in my head, I created this card:
It turned out to be a really quick and easy card to put together. I started with a Real Red base, Whisper white layer, Night of Navy, and Garden Green. The green layer is torn on the edge to give it a more organic “grass” feel. I used silver embossing powder and the Birthday Backgrounds stamp set for the fireworks!! Aren’t they cute?? The sentiment is from the set Praiseworthy Prose. It is a new one from the 2019-2020 IB&C and I just love it. It is stamped in Night of Navy and then I added a piece of Real Red ribbon. The chairs are from the Seasonal Layers dies and you need two of them because watching fireworks with a loved one is the BEST!
I realized after creating this one that the 4th would be past when the blog hop went live, so I made another card just to be on the safe side:
So we have a creek that runs behind our house and it is simply serene. I have always wanted a Weeping Willow tree to go back there and my amazing husband planted one for me this year! And thus became the idea for this card! The Mosaic Mood suite provided the perfect image! Because the summers here in Alabama are very green, I wanted to play on that idea. My husband also loves cards that “do something”….so this one had to be different. After I cut the base of Soft Seafoam, I placed it back in my trimmer and cut at 1″ down both sides of the front of the card. I scored the middle section at 2 1/8” as well. This is why:
The side panels of the card front are adhered down to the base. Then, I layered pieces of the Designer Series paper on top. The tree top is stamped in Garden Green, Mint Macaron, and Soft Seafoam. The trunk and words are in Soft Suede. This is layered on a panel of Garden Green and then adhered just to the bottom half of the middle of the card front. I stamped the words again in Soft Suede and then stamped and punched the circle for the stopper. And just for fun, here is my beautiful tree-
