In celebration of today being Stampin’ Up!’s 30th birthday, I wanted to share a cute project with you that is great for birthdays! I started by wanting to create something that would hold the Duncan Hines Perfect Size for 1 cake mixes. (They come 4 to a box and I got mine at Walmart) And what says birthday fun better than our Broadway Bound Specialty Designer Series Paper! I modified a design from the amazing Ronda Wade to hold two of these little confetti cake mixes perfectly. And with the leftover strip of DSP and Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set, I made a small card and hung it on the front of the bag.
Here are the instructions:
- Cut two pieces of DSP to 7 x 8 1/2. Be sure on patterned DSP that has a directional pattern- like the cakes- that the 7 inch sides are the top and bottom.
- With the 8 1/2″ side at the top (and the top of pattern on the left), score at 1 and 7.
- With the 7″ side at the top, score at 1 1/2 and 5 1/2. Repeat all scoring on the other piece as well.
- Fold over the 1″ sections and adhere down. Fold on all other score lines. Cut the 1 1/2 inch fold lines on the sides of one piece and on the bottom of the other. Fold in tabs and adhere together to make the front and back pieces of your bag. Put adhesive on outside edges of sides and bottom of one and place inside the other to form your bag.
At this point I punched holes in the top and used some Lemon Lime Twist ribbon to make my handles. I used the leftover piece of DSP and cut it to 7 x 2 1/2 for the card. For the holder, I cut a piece of Lovely Lipstick to 3 3/4″ wide and punched with the Classic Label punch twice with the sides of the punch even with sides of the cardstock. I cut this piece down to be 1″ wide and adhered the top just barely tucked under the edge of the polka dot border.
I hope you enjoyed this little happy gift- I mean who doesn’t like some cake and they can share it, too!!
