Today I have a fun little idea for you….AAANNNNDDD I even made another video tutorial!! (I know you are gasping!) I do apologize that it has been so long and I hope to make them more frequently in the future.
How to make a Gift Box from a Pre-printed card!
Do you just love the printed cards that come in the Paper Pumpkin kits? What about the ones in the Kits from the Stampin’ Up! catalogs? They are gorgeous! Inspired by the talented Rachel Tessman, I came up with a formula to create a fun little box out of them to add versatility to your kits! I have been playing with this idea for a little while and really loved the Add-On boxes for the January 2021 Paper Pumpkin kit. This prompted me to take a couple of the cards from the kit and turn them into these cute boxes-
From a standard 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ card and using 3/4″ as your standard, the finished box measures 4″x 2 3/4″ x 3/4″.
Here is a video tutorial that walks you through the process-
Here is the basic formula in writing for you as well-
Step 1- Decide on your measurement or the depths of your sides. I used 3/4″ for my boxes. (you can use like 1″ and your box will be smaller, yet deeper)
Step 2- Cut off 3/4″ from one side of your card. If the back is white, then cut it off of that side. Remember to keep the score mark already there going vertically.
Step 3- Score at 3/4″ on all four sides of your card.
Step 4- Using your score line in the middle (previously where you folded your card in half), score at 3/4″ from that score line to make two equal sides.
Step 5- Cut up the score lines on both long sides and notch tabs. Fold up the bottom and glue sides in place. Fold over the top and glue sides in place.
Remember that if you want to notch the top or stamp directly on your box, it is easier to do that before assembly. Now have fun decorating it!!
I hope you enjoyed this little idea and find some great uses for it. Happy box-making,
